Take your beauty routine to another level with these 8 hi-tech devices to reset and redefine your complexion.

Technology is taking over the beauty industry. What started as a niche market, beauty tech has expanded beyond being a trend and is now very much commonplace. I may be in fashion but I’m always learning about the latest beauty tools that clients and beauty editors have on their mile long ‘to-try’ list. While they likely won’t replace our beloved beauty shelves, beauty tech is giving us more power to take care of all our skincare needs without the assistance of a doctor. Here are eight dermatologist-approved, editor-endorsed beauty devices worth trying in 2019.

Joanna Czech Facial Massager ($189)

Celebrity aesthetician Joanna Czech is a firm believer that putting your best face forward is 70 percent good skincare and 30 percent maintenance. While everyone else is hopping onto the beauty product train, the master face contour is bringing her renowned face-sculpting massage technique home; thanks to her eponymous facial massager. As a believer of a “nipples and up” approach, Joanna designed this roller to fit into every nook of the face, from the center of your mouth to the clavicle. It’s a great addition to any night time routine (you can even use it to apply products for better absorption!) for its relaxing qualities alone.

Dr. Dennis Gross Facial Steamer ($149)

If you really want to turn your beauty routine into a spa-like experience, try steaming your face first. The heat will soften and open up the pores, allowing any product you apply to be better absorbed. For anyone who has dry skin, gets parched easily, or feels clogged, this steamer will whip your skin into shape in just 9 minutes. The steam gives your face a hydrating treatment while detoxifying it of any acne-causing bacteria.

Foreo LUNA mini 2 ($139)

An exfoliating cleanse once meant a cream-based face wash filled with grainy particles. Until the sonic cleansing brushes opened our eyes to the fact that using our hands probably isn’t the best way to clean our faces. Unlike bulky brushes of the past, the mini 2 is the modern way to cleanse, gently exfoliate, and massage your face - all in one go. But that doesn’t mean it’s a ‘one size fits all’ approach. There are eight speeds you can pick based on how deep of a cleanse you want, and the different bristle sizes are designed to work with all skin types.

LightStim LED Stim ($249)

Think of your lipids as the cement that’s put down before you start building on top. The LightStim device keeps this building block from breaking down prematurely due to daily wear-and-tear. Their LED therapy delivers UV-free light energy into the skin, healing the skin from within and reversing any signs of aging. They have three devices with different light wavelengths to combat wrinkles, acne, and pain. While the devices won’t completely unwind damage, they can plump and rejuvenate the skin from the cells up.

NEWA Medical Skin Rejuvenation Device ($399)

The concept of this device is built on the foundation of existing models that funnel energy into the skin. NEWA goes further than just rejuvenating and tightening the skin - three layers deep, in fact. The device sends radio frequencies into the skin to reactivate your skin’s natural ability to produce collagen. This keeps your skin feeling plump while reducing the number of wrinkles and fine lines that tend to form around the eyes and mouth. It’s the first beauty product of its type to receive FDA-approval and is backed by a number of certified dermatologists.

BeGlow Tia All-in-One Sonic Skin Care System ($219)

The Tia 3-in-1 sonic cleansing brush uses pulsations that wash off every trace of makeup. You can choose lighter pulses for sensitive skin and faster pulses for congested skin. It also contours the face by stimulating your facial muscles and mimics the effects of an expert facial massage. The 3-in-1 tool is gentle enough for daily use, day or night. Here’s a tip: put it in the freezer before you use it for a more soothing and revitalizing cleanse.

NuFACE Trinity Pro Facial Toning Device ($325)

Ok, so this device doesn’t have quite the same multifunctionality as others on this list, but if you’re looking to improve the overall appearance of your face, it has all the others beat. Just run this device over your face and neck for as little as 5 minutes a day to get rid of fine lines, reduce the appearance of deep wrinkles, tighten pores, and firm the skin. While it won’t completely replace a visit to the doctor, it will improve the appearance of your skin.

ZIIP Device ($495)

This device sprung forth from the mind of acclaimed aesthetician Melanie Simon, who is an ardent user of the ZIIP herself. The cult-like following Melanie has garnered for her luminous and glass-like skin should tell you about the potency of this microcurrent device. It offers seven different treatments, for every skin type, via the ZIIP App. The electrical treatments evolve with both you and your skin as you continue to use the device & provide feedback to the App.  ZIIP shapes and contours the muscles but it also drives up that dwindling collagen and elastane production -- two key beauty factors to keeping youthful skin.
