The night is a hydration-sucking time for the entire body. So the morning is key to replenishing the skin.

The night is a hydration-sucking time for the entire body, and despite my best effort before bed, I CAN STILL FEEL DRIED OUT COME MORNING – with the only sign of fluid A dreaded puff under THE eyes.

I have worked on my morning routine for years and only now feel I have mastered the steps to building a fresh and clean base, ready for the day ahead. I keep it simple and relatively lean on products; I’d love to say that’s because that’s all I need, but it’s mostly because I’m time poor in the mornings – so simplicity and efficiency are a must.

Hydration and protection are ultimately all that matter.

Step 1: Refresh

I like to start my morning with a splash of water to refresh and awaken my skin. In the winter time, this can feel like a mild form of torture – given the near-freezing water temperature – but it really is the ultimate way to start the day. Then, I dab a little Susanne Kaufmann Line A Eye Cream to the under-eye to help rid pesky under eye swelling.

Step 2: Hydrate

I allow the most time in my morning for replenishing the hydration lost overnight. This is super important for giving me a glowing, fresh face the rest of the day. I use Drunk Elephant C-Firma Day Serum first to help balance and even out my skin tone then apply La Prairie White Caviar Illuminating Pearl Infusion. Once dried, I spay One Love Vitamin D Mist – a wonder mist that offers delayed-release hydration and keeps the goodness coming throughout the day.

And I never forget my Augustinus Bader ‘The Cream’ moisturiser; a tried and true lotion (wrote about it here) that never fails to rejuvenate my skin – anytime, anywhere.

Step 3: Protect

Lastly, I make sure I have UV protection – no matter the season. Jan Marini Antioxidant Daily Face Protectant Sunscreen SPF33 is the weightless and hydrating line of defense you need for whatever life throws your way. And that’s it! Simple, really.

For those interested in my shower habits, I also use Kate Mcleod Daily Stone for body.
